The Firey Gang is out of control here and have come up with a competitions revamp for you!
Grab a friend, strap on your best shoes, and show us whatcha got!
You and your partner need to have been dancing for less than a year.
This division will go straight to a final (no heats required). The format will be 2 all-skates (everyone dancing at the same time), one at a moderate pace, and one just a little bit faster than that.
Your music, your choreography. Bring the best that you have to the stage as a couple or solo performance.
For teams of 3 people or more – your music, your choreography. Bring the best that you have to the stage.
In the revamped Strictly, you and your partner will really be able to show your versatility as a pair!
This year the final will be an all-skate, followed by three shines: first you’ll bust out your solo jazz together, and then you can dazzle the audience in two Lindy shines.
The heats (all-skate) will be run in the afternoon and the top 6 couples will go through to the final in the evening.
Mix ‘n’ Match
Not only will you be mixed and matched with a partner, but we’ll also be mixing and matching the tempo and style of music!
The final will be multiple all-skates, each in a different tempo and style of music.
All vintage swing dance styles are allowed – Lindy, Balboa, Blues, Solo Jazz – so you get to pick how you want to match your dancing to the music.
The heats (all-skate) will be run in the afternoon with the top 6 leads and top 6 follows going through to the final in the evening.
Aerials are not allowed in mix ‘n’ match for partner safety reasons.
The solo jazz final will get extra spicy as the shines will use a decreasing time format.
You’ll start with an all skate, and then the shines reduce in length, starting with 8×8 counts (16 bars) then down to 4×8 counts, then to 2×8, then to 1×8. You’ll need to be able to wow the judges with just a few counts!
The heats (all-skate) will be run in the afternoon and the top 6 will go through to the final in the evening.
There’s also a fun change coming for Balboa!
Once you and your partner hit the finals, it’s all on! You’ll get an all-skate, then 3 shines: one 16×8 count with no restrictions, one that must stay within a 1m square, and one more in a 1m square but at top speed.
The heats will run as normal – all-skate format, with the top 6 couples going through to the final.
